Dean Cotton

Dean Cotton is a university lecturer, author, researcher, and the Restraint Reduction Network Lead for Team Teach.

After working in a variety of education and care settings, in 1999 Dean Cotton pursued his interest in behaviour and started work at a school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. During this time, he trained the staff in Team Teach resulting in a 95% reduction of serious incidents, exclusions were also reduced to zero. The School became the first school to win the Team Teach Gold Standard Award.

When the school closed in 2005, Dean completed a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning at The University of Leicester and started delivering Team Teach Training full time.

Dean is committed to improving behaviour support and reducing the need for restrictive practice.
