Removing a child or young person from a situation when they're becoming dysregulated is familiar practice for anyone working in education or social care settings.
Traditionally this might take the form of a 'time out' - leaving a child or young person alone until they appear ready to return to an activity. But, would moving from a 'time out' to a 'time in' approach be a more effective approach to behaviour support?
Join Principal Team Teach trainer, Ali Manning, as she discusses how can we use time away from an activity in a purposeful way, to co-regulate, reconnect, and rebuild relationships. By doing so, Ali explains how this becomes a meaningful de-escalation strategy that creates long term change for the children and young people we support.
