Responsible Risk-Taking and Behaviour

In this episode, Clare talks to Chris Lore, Head of Learning and Research at Spaghetti Bridge Schools Group, about responsible risk-taking. They discuss what responsible risk-taking means, and how this approach helps develop a sense of autonomy in children and young people.

Chris explains the difference between a ‘culture of control’ and a ‘culture of relationships’, and how the latter can positively influence behaviour and student engagement with education.

Chris Lore is the Head of Learning and Research at Spaghetti Bridge Schools Group, a group of independent special schools based in the southwest of England. At Spaghetti Bridge, Chris is responsible for supporting staff development, fostering a culture of staff learning, and ensuring that Spaghetti Bridge’s Enterprise Learning curriculum and pedagogy are rooted in the latest research and best practices.

Prior to working at Spaghetti Bridge, Chris had an extensive career across the education sector, with experience as both ateacher and leader at primary, secondary, college, and university levels in both mainstream and special educational settings.
