Cale Begley

Learning and Development Lead for Team Teach Australia and New Zealand

Cale is Learning and Development Lead for Team Teach Australia and New Zealand. He has 20 years of experience in behaviour support, education, and leadership, and a passion for supporting genuine positive engagement for those with complex needs.

Prior to joining Team Teach, Cale worked extensively in the education sector as a teacher, pastoral care provider, and school principal working in schools supporting children aged 4-18 with complex needs. He has also delivered programs for disengaged youth in mainstream secondary schools.

Cale has tertiary education, training, and experience in complex communication needs to support behaviour and engagement. He led a whole-school approach to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) leading to his organisation being awarded the International Society for Augmented and Alternative Communication (ISAAC) School of the Year. He also creates AAC resources and provides training and coaching to schools, the disability sector and tertiary institutes around supporting AAC implementation. Success in this field has led Cale to present at national and international conferences and the inclusion of his work in post-graduate courses.

Cale has worked as a principal Team Teach trainer since 2020, delivering participant and trainer courses across Australia. He is a firm believer in building the capacity and wellbeing of the entire team within an organisation. In his role as Learning and Development Lead, Cale particularly enjoys supporting trainers and organisations in building capacity and culture, to best meet the unique needs of the individuals they support.
