We know that, when it comes to the children and young people in our schools, their behaviour is a form of communication. And when they are distressed, dysregulated or anxious, they may engage in particular behaviours that reflect their level of emotional regulation. These might include kicking, spitting, swearing and shouting, for example.
Use this handy poster to remind staff about the types of behaviour they might see from students, and to prompt them to reflect on what that behaviour might be communicating.
