Webinar Recording: The Problem with Removing Behaviour Triggers

Adult Care Lead, Simon Holding, discusses issues around removing triggers as a de-escalation strategy.

In this webinar recording, we are joined by Adult Care Lead at Team Teach, Simon Holding, to discuss issues around removing triggers as a de-escalation strategy.

Simon has worked extensively in a wide range of roles within adult day and residential services and was part of the first authority to adopt Team Teach training for adult social care. He is an Intermediate and Advanced Team Teach trainer, delivering training to social care services, including residential, short-break, and day services, supported living, and care homes. He also trains in education settings, including mainstream schools, pupil referral units and special schools.

In this recording, Simon discusses:

    • Common practices around behaviour triggers – reduction, avoidance and elimination.

    • Short-term success vs longer-term problems.

    • Alternative approaches that may better support distressed individuals in our care.
