Less effective and more effective scenarios showing a 1:1 keyworker session using an AAC device

This training video has been created with National Star College, featuring staff and former students.

In this training video, staff member John is having a keyworker session with Dan and encouraging him to use his communication device. First, you’ll see a less-effective scenario, with plenty of opportunities for professional practice to be improved. Then you’ll watch a more effective version of the same scenario, where small changes have made a big impact to the quality of care and support. After this, Dan, John and Kirby discuss what happened and share their thoughts about ways to give respectful support.

Alongside this video, we have a resource pack you can download containing a range of questions designed to support your ongoing professional development. It’s perfect for staff meeting training sessions or to complete on your own.

What’s in this video:

    1. Less Effective Practice: Watch a realistic scenario and spot opportunities where professional practice could be improved.
